About the role
Responsibilities: Develop and implement effective loan recovery strategies and policies Oversee the entire recovery process for non-performing loans (NPLs) Lead, supervise, and motivate the recovery team to achieve set targets Monitor and analyze delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate recovery actions Engage with external recovery agents, legal firms, and regulatory bodies where necessary Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal credit policies Prepare periodic recovery reports and present to management Negotiate repayment plans with delinquent customers Drive field recovery operations where applicable Review and improve recovery processes for efficiency and effectiveness Collaborate with Credit Risk and Operations teams to reduce default rates Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all recovery activities
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in credit, collections, or recovery within the financial services sector Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field Relevant professional certifications (e.g., risk management, credit analysis) will be an added advantage, and LLB is an added advantage At least 5 years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of loan recovery processes, credit risk, and regulatory requirements Proven track record of recovering high-value delinquent accounts Excellent negotiation and communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet targets Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan management systems
